Our house is situated on the edge of a pleasant green in Ethelburt Avenue in the Swaythling area of Southampton. Designed by the renowned local architect Herbert Collins in the 1930s the avenue has been declared a conservation area by Southampton city council. It still retains the intended tranquil, semi-rural character, with its rough gravel road surface bordered by grass verges and flowering cherry trees, similar to the early garden cities. This lovely terraced house is double fronted with a sitting room, dining room, kitchen and utility room downstairs. There are four bedrooms, two double and two singles, with one being used as a dressing room at present. All the walls and some ceilings were re-plastered some three years ago.
